Apple Teams Up with THE WIZ to Offer Complete Desktop Video Experience

CUPERTINO, California—April 11, 2000—Apple® today announced it is teaming up with THE WIZ to offer complete desktop video solutions, based on Apple’s iMac™ DV, in 41 THE WIZ stores located throughout the New York metropolitan area. THE WIZ will create a unique environment where customers can experience iMac DV and iMovie™ with every major brand of digital camcorder on the market.

iMac DV features Apple’s groundbreaking iMovie software, which makes it incredibly simple for users to create their own pro-quality home and classroom movies. iMovie uses iMac’s built-in FireWire® port to digitally transfer the video from digital camcorders into an iMac. iMovie lets users easily rearrange clips, add special effects like cross-dissolves and scrolling titles, as well as music soundtracks and even sound effects. Users can save their movie on iMac’s hard drive, send it back to the camcorder to make copies on digital or VHS videotape, or send the movie to friends and family over the Internet.

“We are thrilled to be working with THE WIZ to make digital video more easily accessible to customers,” said Mitch Mandich, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Sales.

“The addition of Apple products to THE WIZ’s merchandise assortment furthers our commitment to provide customers with superior product choice and value,” said Tasso Koken, executive vice president Merchandising and Marketing. “We look forward to working with Apple to showcase desktop video solutions that are transforming the home movie experience.”
